Embrace Gratitude: Key to Resilience and Happiness

Nothing can be  taken for granted

Many of you know we had an accident this year. When we moved to the new house, we experienced a loss of carbon monoxide that poisoned us. We are doing great now. This event changed my way of looking at life.

I needed to stop and thank everyone who helped us get through that moment. This post is to thank them and tell you to practice gratitude because the benefits are enormous.

We take so many things for granted that we do not even consider them. We always want more. A happier life, a better family, more, more. But how often do we stop our daily routine and spare a minute to thank what we already have?

We need to practice gratitude. Gratitude improves interpersonal relationships in many ways. Expressing gratitude to others and to ourselves can induce positive emotions. Appreciating what we have, what we are, and even our struggles leads to feelings of pleasure. It creates contentment and impacts our overall health.

Gratitude reinforces resilience.

Practicing gratitude enables us to manage stress better. We can’t change whatever is going on. Nonetheless, we can change what we do or what we think about it. We humans can rewire our brains. Rethink what has happened to us and give it a sense, a meaning. Concerning the sense we give to whatever has happened to us, we will feel certain emotions. We need to embrace that emotion and not fight it.

Practicing gratitude reinforces our resilience. Knowing you have managed to get through other “storms” helps you deal with challenges. Remembering that this one will also pass on makes it easier. Gratitude is also a question of attitude. An attitude we take in life..Once started, gratitude impacts our physical and psychological well-being.

We know how to express gratitude. We have been learning this since we were kids. Sometimes, we just need a little reminder of how powerful it can be.

How to do it?

1. Appreciate Yourself. Be very lovely when you treat yourself, be kind, see the things you have already achieved. Do not overlook even the tiny ones.

2. Allow yourself to be happy If you feel happy, even though others don’t, do not run away from it. That is it..Remember if it came unexpectedly or if you had to work hard to achieve it. If it makes you happy, that’s it. Acknowledge your joy and stop there. Be thankful for the moment. Praise your efforts.

3. Allow yourself to be sad, frustrated, and unhappy. Accepting all our emotions helps us reinforce resilience. Our resilience is a human tool. It enables you to get up on your feet and stand up after any setback. As always, “this moment will also pass on.” Gratitude builds your inner strength and reminds you that you have overcome tough times.

Let me know if you have any practicing gratitude routines!
